our history

Shree Gopalakrishna Company is an established organization engaged in manufacturing Cotton Tapes, Webbing Tapes & Super Fine Tapes. Our firm was setup in Komarapalayam, in the state of Tamil Nadu in India in the year 1952. We have our own manufacturing facilities which help us to keep our quality and time commitments. In the year 1950s & 1960s we are manufacturing Art silk Ribbons and only from the year 1970 we started manufacturing Cotton tapes. We are also very proud to tell, that we are the leading manufacturer of Cotton tapes & Webbing tapes in India. Nearly about 75% of Power & Distribution Transformer manufacturer in India are our customers.

Our products Cotton Tapes & Webbing Tapes are used in Electric Motors and in Power & Distribution Transformers.

We are marketing our products in the brand name “LOTUS” Brand, which was registered in the Trade Mark Act in India.

Infrastructure

Our factory is fully equipped with our own Looms & Needle Looms to manufacture all our products. Our production capacity is more than 4,00,000 Meters in Cotton tapes & 40,000 Meters in Webbing tapes per week in our own factory. We have 80 Shuttle looms and 30 Needle looms in our own factory. Fifty-five employees are working in our factory, we have only one shift.

Cotton Tape

This tape is known as Egyption Cotton Tape meant for Electrical use particularly for Transformer & Motors. It is made of Cotton yarn and used for binding materials in Transformer, electric motor, appliance, etc. for its good mechanical strength and insulating quality.

We manufacture this tapes in ½”, ¾”, 1” & 1¼” width. We have many quanity in this tapes, our rates depends upon the quality of the tapes. We supply all this tapes in 25, 30, 35, 40 & in 50mts rolls as per our customers requirement.

Webbing Tape

This tape is used for Electrical use particularly for Transformer. It is made of Cotton yarn and used for binding materials in Transformer, appliance, etc. for its good mechanical strength and insulating quality.

We manufacture this tapes in 1”, 1¼”, 1½” & in 2” width. This tapes are made of 100% Cotton. We supply all this tapes in 25, 30, 35, 40 & in 50mts rolls as per our customers requirement.

Super Fine Tape

Twill Tape

We manufacture Cotton Twill tapes of 6mm, 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 16mm, 20mm, 25mm width in White, Gray (Cotton Natural Color) & Black. This tapes are used as Textile accessory, bag handles & many other purpose. Our packing will be in 50mts rolls.

We can also supply this tapes in other colors if your requirement is in more quantity. We can also supply this tapes in more than 25mm width if you need huge quantity.

We manufacture tape for printing label. It is made of 100% cotton in different widths like 10mm, 12mm, 16mm, 20mm, 25mm, 32mm & 50mm. Our regular packing of 10mm & 12mm tape is in 50 mts rolls & all other sizes is in 100 mts rolls.

Cotton Braided Tapes. It is also called Nada (used for inner skirt and so many other uses). We have six different qualities called " No-11, 1/G, 6/W, 4/G, No-2 & 4/2. The colour of this nada will be Gray & White. Packing of this nada will be of 1/4Kg, 1/2Kg & 1Kg.

Our company was started in the year 1952 in Komarapalayam by S.Gopalakrishnan with the guidance of his father-in-law L.K.S.Palanisamy Chettiar. In the beginning we are manufacturing many kinds of Ribbons including Art silk Ribbon. As the usage of Ribbon was stopped, we have converted our Looms to cotton tape manufacturing looms. After S.Gopalakrishnan from 1988 the business was undertaken by his two sons G.Sivasubramaniam & G.Shanmuga Sundaram.
